Workshop: MODELING AND EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES ON DISPERSED PHASE FLOWS
Introduction
At around 11 am, Dr. Yoshikawa took the stage and illuminated on the theories and conceptual analysis of particle laden flows which was done wisely. After the hour long lecture and a short break, Prof. Dr. RG enlightened on the topic which I have remained an eager admirer and learner of ever since I have been a part of AMRA Lab, that being the case study of fog Harvesting in cooling towers and respective wettability settings that apply to the capturing body in persuation of this. Afterwards, Dr. Yoshikawa explained the modeling of electrodynamic transport & its application in Wearable Electrostatic Air-Purification System for face masks (WEAPS) technology.
Accompanied an exquisite Biriyani lunch.
The Second Session
The next session was a Lab session where all the attendees of the workshop were brought in groups to descry the informative and elaborative explaining of high-speed imaging of particle laden flows and droplet dynamics. I could better understand the dynamics as elaborations escalated (although that I had already been aware of the most part of it from my experiemtal studies about it and my previous studies of Dr. Ritwik Ghosh's papers). The different wettabilities of surfaces were discussed and inferred: the control, hydrophobic, hydrophilic, and the super ones of respective kinds. The water droplet behavior was studied effectively. The droplet impact upon different surfaces and the velocity measurements were expressed. The fps rates and illumination efficiencies that best establishes our output when using a high speed camera were interpreted. The PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) method in determining particle velocity in terms of the distance and the time interval, from the alienation of RGB values that differ for object and background, was efficiently showcased.
Afterevents
Later occured an evaluation feedback and a quiz in which I performed badly as usual. Although, the participation certificate was promising. As was the office bag, which were handed out to every attendee as a memento!!
